Wound care that heals properly.

Your nurse will remove the old dressing, clean the wound, check how it is healing, and apply a fresh dressing suited to the wound type. If anything looks like it needs a GP’s attention, such as signs of infection, we will arrange for you to be seen the same visit where possible.

For wounds that need regular changes over several weeks, we can set up a schedule of appointments so you are not left guessing when to come back.

Most minor wounds heal within one to two weeks with regular dressing changes. Your nurse will let you know what to expect for your specific wound and when to reduce the frequency of visits.

• Keep the dressing clean and dry between changes
• Contact us if you notice signs of infection
• Follow any activity restrictions your nurse or GP suggests
• Diabetic and slow-healing wounds may need closer GP review

If healing is slower than expected, your GP may want to review the wound directly, check your circulation, or consider whether an underlying condition is affecting recovery.

• Diabetic wound care coordinated with your regular GP
• Referral to a wound specialist if needed
• Records kept with your file for continuity of care
• Tetanus status checked and updated if required

Dressing changes are one of the everyday services we provide alongside your regular GP care, so any wider health concerns that come up can usually be addressed in the same visit.
