Chronic wounds and ulcers, such as venous leg ulcers or slow-healing diabetic wounds, need more than a simple dressing change. Our GPs and nursing team assess the underlying cause, put together a management plan, and track your healing over time rather than just treating the symptoms visit to visit.

Your assessment
Your GP will examine the wound, ask about your medical history, and consider factors like circulation, diabetes or mobility that might be affecting healing. This might involve additional tests, such as checking your circulation or blood sugar levels.
Based on the assessment, your GP and nurse will put together a dressing and management plan suited to your specific wound, rather than a generic approach.
Booking your assessment
Book an appointment with a GP for an initial assessment. Ongoing dressing changes are then usually managed by our nursing team following the plan set out.

If your wound is not responding to treatment as expected, your GP may arrange further investigations or refer you to a wound specialist.
Ongoing care
Chronic wound management is usually a longer-term process. Your GP and nursing team will monitor progress, adjust the treatment plan as needed, and address any underlying causes affecting healing.

If you are managing diabetes or a circulation condition alongside your wound, your GP will coordinate this care together rather than treating them separately.
