Menopause care that actually listens.
A plan that suits your health history and preferences, for perimenopause and menopause symptoms that are actually affecting your life.
Menopause assessment and management
Perimenopause and menopause can bring a wide range of symptoms, from hot flushes and sleep disturbance to mood changes and joint pain. Our GPs take the time to assess what you are experiencing and talk through the options available, from lifestyle changes to hormone therapy, matched to your health history.
- Assessment of perimenopause and menopause symptoms
- Hormone therapy and non-hormonal options discussed
- Advice matched to your individual health history
- Longer appointments available for a thorough discussion
- Ongoing review as your symptoms or needs change
- Medicare rebates apply where eligible

Your consultation
Your GP will ask about your symptoms, your cycle, your general health and any family history relevant to treatment options. This is a two-way conversation, so bring your questions and preferences along.
If hormone therapy is an option worth considering, your GP will explain the benefits and risks relevant to your situation, so you can make an informed decision together.

Booking an appointment
Book a standard consultation to start the conversation. If you know you will need more time to go through everything, mention it when you book so a longer appointment can be arranged.
- Bring a list of current medications and supplements
- Note down your symptoms and how long you have had them
- Mention any relevant family history, such as osteoporosis or blood clots
- Ask for a longer appointment if you have a lot to cover
- Bring recent blood test results if you have any
If further investigations are needed, such as blood tests or a bone density scan, your GP will arrange these and discuss the results with you at a follow-up visit.

Ongoing management
Menopause management often takes some adjustment to get right, and your GP will review how you are going and make changes as needed rather than settling on a single plan and leaving it there.
- Regular reviews to check how treatment is working
- Adjustments made if symptoms change or side effects occur
- Bone health and cardiovascular risk considered as part of your plan
- Mental health and wellbeing support available if needed
If you are also managing other conditions, such as high blood pressure or a history of blood clots, your GP will factor these into your treatment options.
- Bone density scans arranged if clinically appropriate
- Referral to a specialist if your situation is complex
- Contraceptive needs also discussed if still relevant
- Records kept with your regular GP for continuity
Menopause care is part of the broader women’s health services we provide, alongside contraceptive advice, cervical screening and general health checks.
