We run immunisations to the National Immunisation Program (NIP) schedule, record every dose to the Australian Immunisation Register (AIR), and can catch your child up if they’ve fallen behind or arrived from overseas on a different schedule. Development checks run alongside these visits, so growth and milestones are reviewed at the same time rather than needing a separate appointment.

The NIP schedule is set by the Australian Government and provides these vaccines free for eligible children. It’s designed to build protection at the ages when your child needs it most, and our nurses keep track of exactly where your child sits on it so you don’t have to. The visits usually fall at:

Small things that make a big difference.
A distressed child makes the whole thing harder for everyone, so a few practical things help:
- Book a time when your child is usually settled: mid-morning after a feed or nap tends to work better than late afternoon.
- Bring a comforter, favourite toy or dummy.
- For babies, feeding during or straight after the injection is genuinely calming.
- Dress your child in clothing that gives easy access to upper arms or thighs.
- Stay for the 15 minutes we ask after vaccination: it's a standard safety observation period.
After the vaccination
Mild reactions are common and expected: some soreness or redness at the injection site, a low-grade fever, or a child who’s grizzly and sleepy for a day or so. These usually settle within 24–48 hours, and simple measures like a cool compress or age-appropriate pain relief are generally enough. Our nurses will talk you through what’s normal for the specific vaccines given that day before you leave.

What it costs
NIP vaccines themselves are free for eligible children. The consultation is billed separately, and children 12 and under are bulk billed. Non-NIP vaccines (some travel vaccines, for example) carry the cost of the vaccine itself. If you’re ever unsure whether a particular visit is bulk billed, it’s worth asking when you make the booking so there are no surprises on the day.

Vaccines on the National Immunisation Program schedule are free for eligible children, you're not charged for the vaccine itself. The consultation is billed separately, and children 12 and under are bulk billed. Vaccines outside the NIP, such as some travel vaccines, carry the cost of the vaccine. Reception will confirm what applies when you book.
No. Catch-up schedules exist exactly for this, and children can be brought up to date at almost any age. Bring whatever records you have (or none, we can check the Australian Immunisation Register) and we'll map out a catch-up plan.
A mild cold without fever usually isn't a reason to postpone. If your child has a significant fever or is genuinely unwell, we'll generally reschedule. If you're unsure, come in anyway or call us, our nurse will assess on the day rather than you guessing.
You need an AIR Immunisation History Statement. You can download it yourself through your Medicare online account via myGov or the Express Plus Medicare app, or ask our reception team and we'll help you obtain it.
Allow about 30 minutes. The vaccination itself is quick, but we ask you to stay for 15 minutes afterwards as a standard safety observation. A 4-year-old health check takes longer, tell reception when booking so we schedule enough time.
Yes, new families are very welcome, and you don't need to have been to the practice before. Bring your child's Medicare card and any existing immunisation records to the first visit.
